We can observe a rapid change in business world day to day life. CRM is becoming as an effective tool for all business firms in the world. In earlier days ‘customer relationship management’ was only practiced in B2B markets. But at the moment it is becoming as oxygen for all firms’ survival.
Mass customization plays a vital role in customer relationship management. The customer care employees save personal data of each customer. So they can send direct mails or directly call to the customer whenever they want. It makes the customer as happy and also it helps to understand, anticipate and satisfy the individual requirements. Firms always try to set quality standards for them. For an example Pizza Hut has a standard as “Delivery within half an hour”. These quality standards are the results which are achieved by the implementation of CRM.
In past, customers needed to go to suppliers’ place to satisfy their requirements. Now a customer can easily order a product or service from home. Most of the companies have started to believe in the ‘customer is god’ concept because the bargaining power of customers has increased in the present world. It is an end result obtained by the high competition occurred by international trade. This leads firms to increase the quality standards by using several production technologies.
Current firms tend to show an emotional interaction with customers. Even the advertisers practice emotional appeals to attract customers. Let us take baby soap industry. Baby soap producers found that the percentage of babies in the population came down in Asian countries. So they started to advertise that ‘baby soaps are not only for babies. But also for mums.’ A latest survey says that most of the baby soaps are used by the females than babies. To create this trend, advertisers tried to interconnect the mother affection and the appearance of skin. Theses two factors are like two different corners. Eventhough it does not have any connections, the efficient business winners have made the customers to believe so.
Coca cola is also an other example. Scientists have proved that it is not good for health. Still it does not make any huge impact on its demand. Most of the youth believe that they can’t survive with out coke. It became as a representative of modern life style. Coke is just like Angelina Julie as it has billions of fans.
Effective businesses must always identify the latest trends. We all know about life cycle of humans. It has several stages such as single, married no children and married with children etc. But the modern life cycle represents interesting stages which consist of never married, live together etc. In the latest world many women want to be as ‘never married’ by choice. So it increased the amount of apartments which are designed only for single women. There are also interesting agreements which state that the women have to go out when they get married.
B2B market is also changing. Most buyer firms are interested to maintain ‘supplier relationship management’ with sellers. And also the sellers are interested in ‘supply chain partnering’. Most of the seller firms tend to solve the current problems of buyers.
Operations and production sides also have vast changes. There are new production technologies such as AIS (Automatic Information System), CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing), AGV (Automated Guided Vehicles) and ASRS (Automatic Storage and Retrieval System) etc.
Traditional ways, culture and all the trends have changed. Most of the organizations are changing as matrix or project oriented organizations. They are rigid to have old tall organizational structures. Even the low level employees have the decision making authority in their level and also it is becoming more flexible.
Anyhow these changes are just like the two sides of a coin as they have both benefits and obstacles. But we can proudly say that the current business world gives bunch of benefits to both customers and firms comparing to the traditional environment.
